Project Summary: 

The Linkedin commercial office project in Sunnyvale, California, was a design/assist, LEED® Gold tenant improvement project including a new 5-story 125,000 square-foot core and shell for LinkedIn. The project features include full service cafeteria, library, training room and meeting areas. The project was completed to an aggressive schedule of 16 weeks and required shift crews and overtime to finish on schedule.

Cupertino Electric worked in close collaboration with the construction team including the general contractor, BOD engineer and client. We explored cost saving strategies that resulted in an installation that was both on-time and on-budget. Certain design elements were solid while others Cupertino gave professional suggestions for improvements: fixture control grouping, cable tray routing, generator sizing, finalizing distribution single lines.

Weekly coordination meetings were held with the construction team to review constructability and eliminate any conflict and rework. Cupertino used value engineering to reduce cost and installation time while providing the client’s overall envisioned office atmosphere. Branch wiring became the main focus for the project consisted of numerous open ceiling conditions, these areas were closely coordinated and Trimble layout devices were used to eliminate any errors.

While establishing GMP, Cupertino worked with multiple vendors to obtain a minimum of 3 bids on all quoted item, thus providing the client the most cost competitive product. Vendor storage of ordered materials and “just-in-time” deliveries also eliminated moving materials multiple times and reduced damage to the high-end lighting package. The project used a 2014 Title 24 compliant lighting control system that featured wireless controlled fixtures.
